We were thrilled to have Jenn Turner with us at Offline Camp to interview many of our campers about what Offline First means to them. Our friends at The New Builders Podcast loaned us their microphone for this endeavor and have since cut together a whole episode worth of clips from Jenn’s interviews. (Thank you, Jim & Doug!) Listen to the podcast below, then read on to learn more about the campers interviewed!

The voices behind the podcast

We had 30-ish fabulous campers at Offline Camp, all of whom you should be following on Twitter! Here are the seven we managed to squeeze into this podcast, in order of appearance, with some of their great work highlighted:

  • Gregor Martynus of Hoodie (co-organizer of Offline Camp)
View Gregor’s 6-minute presentation on the good parts of Offline First:
  • Julian Simioni of MapZen
Check out Julian’s session recap on offline mapping to see how many Statues of Liberty there are in the world:
  • Pedro Teixeira of YLD
View Pedro’s recap of our discussions on the decentralized web:
  • Jane Kim
Test the word “LAST” to +1 (718) 404–9006 to see the last poetry line submitted to Jane’s exquisite texts poetry experiment, then reply with the next one to continue the current poem. As you can see, our campers had a lot of fun with this!

More to explore

If you enjoyed this episode of The New Builders, you should check out their first-ever podcast, in which they interviewed Offline Camp co-organizer Bradley Holt on Progressive Web Apps and Offline First (also appropriate for people who enjoy craft beer or robots!):

The New Builders Ep. 1: Craft Beer and Progressive Web Apps

Stay tuned for an upcoming episode featuring a longer sit-down with fellow camp organizer Gregor Martynus! (Check out the New Builders site for multiple ways to subscribe to the podcast.)

If hearing these awesome campers makes you insanely jealous (the splashing in the pool sealed the deal, right?), we hope you’ll attend a future event. We hope to bring Offline Camp to the West Coast in the fall of 2016 and to Europe in the spring of 2017. In the meantime, keep perusing this Offline Camp Medium publication for more recaps of our discussions and follow @offlinecamp on Twitter for updates. We can’t wait to meet you. Or see you again. Or meet you and then see you again.

UPDATE: Registration is open for Offline Camp California, taking place November 4–7, 2016 in Santa Margarita, CA. We hope you can join us!

⇧ This could be you at our next event. ⇧
