2021 was truly a year for innovation and creative thinking. The world slowly adapted to the “new normal” and somehow, in the process, it seems as though we have all become more divided than ever. Between public health concerns and a tumultuous election, we managed to stick it out and enjoy what this year had to offer.

Thankfully it was a great year for new music. There were so many amazing new records to choose from despite the impact that COVID-19 had on shutting down most of New York City.

Honorable Mentions:

Capella Gray — “Gyalis”

The viral phenomenon from Westchester County dropped one of the hottest singles to hit NYC radio waves this year. Capella Gray is definitely one to watch.

The Forms — “Head Underwater”

Rockaway Beach rock duo The Forms are currently working on finishing up their forthcoming record with superproducer Steve Albini. Four tracks from the group’s third album have already been leaked and there is more to come.
