The most awaited android smartphones of 2017, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ were expected to be launched at Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona but much to our disappointment we only got the teaser to the upcoming flagship from Samsung. The smartphone will be on March 29 In Newyork.

With the huge disappointment and lose Samsung had with the Note 7 Scandal one of 2016’s biggest Tech Stories, Galaxy S8 & S8+ are the rebound phones for Samsung to prove their stature.

The mobile phone industry is going crazy with leaks and images of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ showing up every day and here is everything you need to know about these upcoming flagship devices.

Everything about Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+:

• Processor:
  Samsung galaxy S8 and S8+ will have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SOC which is the first chip to be manufactured on 10nm FinFET process node.Although Sony has launched the world’s first smartphone using Snapdragon 835 SOC, Samsung has stocked up on the first batch of SD 835’s according to reports.

• That is also the reason why LG had to opt for the Snapdragon 821 SOC for its 2017 Flagship LG G6.
• Display:
  The smartphone comes with 6.2-inches and 5.8 inches display for Galaxy S8+ and S8 respectively. the display will have a 1440x2960 resolution with 568 ppi Pixel density. with the screen to body ratio of 84.4% and 88.6% for the S8 and S8+ respectively. there are little to none side bezels on the device and very thin upper and lower bezels.

• According to Sources Samsung is also adding the 3D Touch features to its displays as seen in the Apple’s smartphones Iphone 6s,6s+,7 and 7+. Samsung is also using Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect the display from scratches and drops.
• Camera:
  Last year’s Galaxy s7 and s7 Edges cameras were best in the class and produced stunning images. This year S8 and S8+ will have the same 12 MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, Phase-Detection Auto-Focus, and OIS. The primary camera is capable of recording video in 4k @60fps, Full HD @120fps. some rumors even suggest that the primary camera can record video @1000fps.

• The device has a 8 MP Front facing camera with f/1.7 aperture and Auto HDR for more vibrant and beautiful selfies.
• Memory:
  The smartphone has a 4 GB RAM which when coupled with the latest SD 835 SOC will ensure seamless and smooth performance. This device will come in two internal memory options 64/128 GB which can be expanded to 256 GB via the Micro SD card slot.
• Software:
  The smartphone runs on the latest version of Android 7.0 Nougat with Touch Wiz UI on top. While Google is bringing Google assistant to all the smartphones running Nougat, Samsung is going in different direction and has just announced “Bixby”.

• This is not the first time Samsung has tried its hand in voice assistant, S voice was the first try and didn’t get much traction. Bixby is a “voice agent”. Samsung will be expanded this Voice agent to all their products range like Smart TV, Air Conditioners, Fridges and even Washing machines.
• Iris Scanner and Face Detection:
  Samsung has introduced the iris scanner in a smartphone to the world with it Now dead Note 7. Samsung is bringing back the iris scanner for its 2017 flagship too and rumors suggest that along with iris scanner we can also get face detection also.

• We have seen face detection back in the days of Ice cream sandwich but this seems to be more evolved. the face detection can also be used to pay using Samsung Pay and many other features.
• Battery:
  Samsung will go with a bigger battery in the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ but they have made sure to test them using their new process so these devices don’t end up catching fire. S8 and S8+ will have 3000 mAh and 3500 mAh batteries respectively.The batteries for these devices might be manufactured by Murata Manufacturing and Sony. Due to last years Note 7 Battery debacle Samsung has made a choice to go to other manufacturers.

The Device will also be water resistant and will be certified IP68. The previous generations S7 and S7 Edge were also IP68 certified.

Rumors suggest that Samsung might be parting ways with Headphone Jack like apple did and there will be USB-C port which can be doubled to charge and connect your wired headphones. But some other rumors suggest they might be a headphone jack after all. we’ll know for sure on 29th march.

Samsung might use it’s Exynos 9 series chip instead of the Snapdragon 835 in some markets like India and Vietnam. Rumors suggest that there will also be a dual-sim version which will use hybrid sim slot like the ones mostly found in Chinese OEMs.

According to the leaked images, Samsung has opted to remove the home button in favor of the onscreen buttons and moves the fingerprint scanner to the back right behind the camera lens. which for us seems like a weird placement.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be available in 3 colors black sky, orchid gray, and arctic silver according to @evleaks on twitter. The tipster also leaked the pricing for the phones in one of his tweets.

Price:

Samsung Galaxy S8–799€ and Samsung Galaxy S8+ — 899€ which roughly translates to INR 55000 and INR 64000.
