34 years ago, the world was shaken with a collective stomp of peace. Like the tropical country’s seven thousand islands, a mass of prayers came together to form a single entity against a towering hand of power.

Nations across the blue ball of life rose their hands in applause to a once-colony group of lands that bowed over colonizing forces.

The EDSA Revolution that first sparked in the streets of Manila last February 22, 1986 serves as a reminder that there is power in numbers, as there is in intention. The passion-powered storm ended a rule that stretched a country too thin, and welcomed a new age of political freedom.

An event is celebrated for a reason, and for this one, there are many. It rang the bells of ideologies far and wide that the people should get what they deserve, and the people indeed have the power.
