“You wouldn’t understand.” © N. Jones

In positively no order of relevance, I can be described as:

An Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, at Yale University (a boring, standard biosketch can be found here).

An academic geneticist and and computational biologist broadly interested in epidemics, evolution, and society.

A scribe who writes about science, society, culture, data, race, sports, ethics and anything else I can come up with.

A science educator interested in the development of pedagogical devices for teaching math and genetics, at all levels

A science-fiction, fantasy, comics, and gaming fan and consumer (and soon, writer/producer).

In previous professional lives: a bouncer, usher, statistics tutor, nanny, data scientist, personal trainer and light heavyweight boxer

A combination of 3 movie characters:
1) Stanley Ipkiss/The Mask (Jim Carrey), ‘The Mask
2) Furious Styles (Lawrence Fishburne), ‘Boyz N’ the Hood
3) Dr. Robert Neville (Will Smith), ‘I am Legend

An inclusivity nerd, because it (almost everything) only works if people have access, feel welcome and are given a chance.

The great-grandson of a brave, intelligent woman born in North Carolina (USA) near the time of emancipation. Her story inspires me, and is the reason I go.
