I usually have a pretty lackluster reaction to mockumentaries. With The Office being the exception, I typically find them to be too over the top and unbelievable.

Abbott Elementary doesn’t suffer from any of the usual problems these shows exhibit. The acting is on point, the production is slick, and the writing is solid. If you’ve ever worked at a school or met a teacher, this show feels exactly right. A mix of insanity, deprivation, and carefully-controlled chaos reflects reality exactly but it never feels heavy-handed.

As predicted, Quinta Brunson is terrific and the supporting cast rocks along with her.
