The Russell Westbrook World Tour
Russell Westbrook is one of the NBA’s unique personalities. A love for fashion, a lack of care what you think about him and a passion to compete that only a handful of players have ever had.
For the entirety of his career, Westbrook has been “the other guy,” sharing the stage with former MVP, Kevin Durant. Much can be made of how close/distant these two dynamos were, but it was amazing watching them share the court.
We’ve heard the stories of Durant’s departures…everyone has voiced their opinion of him. What remains to be seen, is how this Oklahoma City Thunder team will do in 2016–2017. And, how Westbrook will do as the unquestioned Alpha Male of the team.
Tonight, we will get to see first-hand, what this team is made of. Tonight, we will get to see the Russell Westbrook World Tour, on center stage. When Oklahoma City travels to Oracle Arena, this evening, it will be the first time since their Game 7 loss in the Western Conference Finals. For someone like Westbrook, no extra motivation is needed. He runs at full throttle at all times. But, this game offers Westbrook the opportunity to put a stamp on his future as the Thunder’s leader.
Sure, it is way too early in the season to predict where the Thunder will finish, but this is guaranteed: as long as Westbrook stays healthy, he will be a treat to watch. Four games in, he is averaging 37.8 ppg, 10 rpg and 10 apg. And what’s better is that he is doing it all in the flow of the game. He will have nights where he shoots too much or tries to force the issue, but early in the season, he is allowing the game to come to him.
And that makes him even more fun to watch.
Tonight, the Russell Westbrook World Tour takes center stage, and it should be a show. Regardless of the outcome, there’s a reason Michael Jordan sings Westbrook’s praises. And you will see it full-force in Oakland.
