When it came to creating Luffa, we knew at the core we wanted teams to be able to integrate Luffa into their workflow in whatever way made sense for them. This meant building a horizontal, adaptable platform. In order to create a platform that really helps we are constantly looking to learn from our users about how they specifically use Luffa.

As we expected, the Luffa platform is being used in a variety of ways based on how different teams work. This is our second post in our Luffa Customer Stories series exploring how people are using the platform. Today we’ll take a look at how the MaidSafe team is using Luffa to build a knowledge base.

Who is MaidSafe?

MaidSafe is building a new decentralised, autonomous internet for the world called the SAFE Network. It’s a project that’s vast in scale and incredibly complex, relying on developers based around the world to work efficiently and effectively together around the clock. Given their need to coordinate a number of developers in vastly different time and geographical zones, MaidSafe is a great candidate for using Luffa as it makes it so that not everyone needs to be present for a meeting or presentation to get all the benefits of being there.

What was their Use Case?

Early adopters MaidSafe have been using Luffa for a few months now. Their most common use for Luffa is to capture remote meetings and presentations, and more specifically, weekly all staff training sessions.

With MaidSafe being as complex a project as it is, being able to keep every developer on the same page is incredibly important. The MaidSafe team needs quick and reliable access to information that’s relevant to their job that comes up during meetings and presentations.

How did Luffa help them address it?

The team captures their weekly staff training sessions in Luffa and makes them accessible to everyone. They share this growing knowledge base with new recruits when they join, allowing them to quickly get up to speed up by listening to the past sessions. By building an audio and visual history, new employees can now learn about the details of the Network quickly and experience the company culture on demand and straight from the source, instead of being faced with masses of static text.

Individual team members regularly choose to re-listen to past presentations to refresh their memory and deepen their understanding of topics. By capturing the screen or attaching a presentation to the recorded session anyone who missed the meeting, or who wants to review a specific comment in the future, can easily have the visual element paired with the audio from the presentation.

Results with Luffa and MaidSafe

“…being able to listen back through the presentation and having the visual and audio all in one place — so great!” — Nadia Burborough, Technical Executive Assistant

The full MaidSafe global team now uses Luffa and has incorporated it into their regular habits. Keeping the context and conversation in one easy-to-access place has helped MaidSafe to build on the time and effort spent in advance of sessions, enabling them to spend less time searching for information and more time thinking and doing — essential when they’re building the future.

Stay tuned for the next in our Customer Stories series. Until then you can give Luffa a try at okluffa.com
