Today we dive back into our Use Case series, checking in with Normative, a software innovation firm that’s been using Luffa for over a year and a half. Since the start when they were exploring Luffa’s capabilities, Normative has moved on to find multiple use cases for Luffa, including a few unique ones that no one else has tried yet.
Who is Normative?
Normative is a software innovation firm that helps leaders get their best opportunities to market, faster. Their goal is to support strong decision-making throughout the product lifecycle and reduce the risk of bringing new software experiences to market.
As an original early adopter of Luffa, and a globally recognized design firm, Normative has been a great feedback source for us at Luffa. Discussions with some of their original users helped to contribute to some early Luffa product design decisions.
What is their Use Case?
Normative builds complex software products using deeply collaborative methods with clients, so it’s important for them to track their ideas, iterations, and conversations over the life of a project.
The team at Normative uses Luffa to capture interviews and workshops with their clients to make sure they aren’t missing anything important during their interactions. By having a central location for all these captured conversations no one needs to look far for a record of what was discussed. The conversations are all saved into Luffa so that no one needs to worry about storage on individual devices.
Luffa has also been mobilized as a tool for sharing internal leadership conversations with everyone in the organization. Since conversations are instantly available on the Luffa platform once they are completed, the rest of the team immediately has access to them. No one needs to worry about managing another tool to listen or share them with the team.
How does Luffa help them address it?
Normative has been finding many different uses for Luffa in their office. It’s become a regular part of their workflow to help them keep an archive of captured conversations both between teammates as well as with clients. Having a tool that allows them to edit transcripts is helpful because they can search by keyword and focus on reading a specific section. It also helps them pinpoint exact moments in a conversation without having to listen to the full recording. Because files are immediately accessible to the team there is no need for additional software, allowing the team to capture different stages of their workflow in one centralized place.
Normative has also found a unique application for Luffa: sharing internal team podcasts. With audio uploaded into Luffa you can add your own flagged Moments, and add notes to your favourite moments in a podcast to easily share it with your colleagues. For distributed, time-shifted, or limited meeting work environments, everyone can have access to important discussions without having to attend the event where these talks happened.
Results with Luffa and Normative
Normative has found real value from all the ways that Luffa gives them to interact with their conversations. Having audio paired with transcripts makes for a quick written summary of a conversation as well as providing searchable recordings. Keeping all these annotated conversations in one place creates a reliable archive where people can search for themes and keywords, as well as help them make connections with past discussions.
Team members are able to quickly start a new meeting or interview while another team member is able to start an analysis of the conversation that just finished. Without having to wait to sync up with the person who conducted the interview. This collaboration lets them do data collection and analysis simultaneously. This saves time and makes for a more streamlined workflows with remote team members that all leads to generating insights faster.
“We love having a centralized place for audio recording that allows us to flag insightful moments along with photos and images.” — Paloma Holmes
Due to the nature of Normative’s innovative work, they create many different meeting artifacts. Luffa’s support of a large variety of media types means that users can add anything from graphics to PDFs, and videos to their Captures. With Luffa’s audio merging technology Normative is also able to record audio from multiple devices to get a cleaner capture than they would using any other apps.
With now being able to re-listen to past conversations the team is able to pay more attention to finer details of interviews or workshops. They can notice nuanced details such as pauses, tone, and inflections that communicate important emotional qualities that might have otherwise been missed. With Luffa, Normative has found a variety of ways to share valuable knowledge between teams efficiently and easily.
