Singer-songwriter Lila Blue recently unveiled her music video for “Half Of It,” a song probing the intricate emotional complexities of relationships.

A bit of a prodigy, Lila Blue released her first album, Lucille, when she was only 14-years-old, followed by her sophomore album, The Hollows Hold the Healing, followed by an EP, entitled Have A Look. Now she’s preparing to release a new album — Leave Me Be.

Lila’s music appeared on the soundtrack of Lifetime’s Story of a Girl, Kyra Sedgwick’s directorial debut, starring Kevin Bacon, Ryann Shane, and Sosie Bacon. Demonstrating her vast array of gifts, Lila starred in Weightless, a rock opera orbiting Ovid’s narrative poem Metamorphoses. “Half Of It” opens on a dark piano topped by Lila’s deliciously perplexed voice, flavored with haunting melancholic timbres, along with fizzing bubbles of discovery and release, as she bumps into her ex.

“You grew out your hair / And you no longer look like a child / But your hands still seem the same / So I’ll just hold onto that fact for a little while.”

The video, directed by Steven Jaehnert, depicts the potent emotions, at times random and contradictory…
