3 ways to save money on Spring Break before you arrive:
If you don’t plan before you start soaking the sun in on Spring Break, it’s too late. It’s like going to the grocery store when you’re hungry, it’s a spending binge disease to do that to yourself.
The same goes for planning your Spring Break. Don’t expect to think in the heat of the moment you’re going to keep that credit card in your wallet. It’s a fail mission at its finest, Capitan. Luckily, the Travel Channel (didn’t know they still had a channel…) has a couple tips to make sure you are keeping on track with spending:
- Get a Hotel with a Fridge and Microwave: Save your dollars for the nice “on-the-town” meals. Don’t splurge on the cheap lunches down at the beach. As we used to do in the “good ol’ days”, grab a pack of Ramon noodles and settle in. It’s a cheap ride!
- Find Hotels with Complimentary Breakfasts and Snacks: There’s nothing better than rolling out of bed, stumbling down the elevator, and grabbing a stale bagel without having to pull out your credit card. If you’re extra devious, you can slide some muffins under your jacket and run for a snack later! Great exercise too!
- Find Last Minute Flight Deals: These are tricky to come by, and could take some study time. Watch the price of the flight you want over a couple weeks. See the wavering in price. Flight prices change regularly, so staying on top with alerts from different engines will keep you spry and on budget.
These aren’t “revolutionary” tips, but they let you grab some savings before you pack your sun tan lotion. Again, the key is planning before you go. Mapping out ways to save beforehand creates a buffer from when weakness sets in.
Look, I’m all about splurging on things you love. If buying a round of shots for your friends is what will make the night and memories, go for it!
Find that money hidden in the deals you plan for, first!!
