Are you like these Millennials? Skipping doctors visits, read this.
I thought I was alone in this area. But, apparently skipping out on visiting the doctor for millennials is the norm. For the older generations, you get as much as a headache, and you’re trooping on over down the street to Dr. Phil.
Sounds like a waste of time to me.
I guess I’m not alone. According to IBtimes, 93% of millennials do not schedule preventative visits to their physician. So, many are just skipping the doctor all together.
For me, logically I know preventative care is covered under most insurance plans 100%, but there’s always something lingering in my mind, “Hey, they are going to pull a fast one on me and I’ll have to owe a bunch of money I don’t want to spend.”
It’s a common fear, but after seeing a fair share of medical bills for me and others, you can’t blame me. An ER visit where they end up just giving you Tylenol will cost over a $1000 out of pocket, maybe more if your insurance isn’t great.
Who wants to risk that?
Here’s where most Millennials are starting to get their primary treatment. They pop in for their flu shot and maybe some recommendations on vitamins or the like and then their gone. It’s because a CVS or a similar place, isn’t going to go crazy on their bill when they send it over.
Their “doctors” aren’t commanding high hourly fees plus the cost of their equipment they use once-a-year. It’s stripped down. I believe we will see this trend of moving more to these small “urgent care” centers models. You probably already see it with many CareNows and other Urgent Cares popping up in your neighbors.
Something big is coming to change the healthcare world…
