When I was younger, I didn’t eat hot dogs for a few years after learning how they were made. Now it looks like I might have to swear off gummy bears, too.

Thanks to a Flemish television program called “Over Eten” (“On Food”), which intends to bring a new awareness to the things we’re eating, we got an inside look at how gummy bears and other gummy candies are made. And, frankly, it ain’t too pretty.

While many of us are aware that gummy bears are made from gelatin, some of us (like me, for example) still aren’t sure what, exactly, gelatin is. In fact, most of us don’t have a clue. But, after watching this video, we can see that—much like hot dogs—gelatin involves a lotgross of…pig innards. Yep, whether you like it or not, gelatin is made by boiling animal parts (ligaments, bones, fat).

And, in this video, you’ll see how gummies go from wrapper to pig, in a reverse-progression video that captures the entire production process in all its gory glory. Um, enjoy?
