Ever since Match.com launched its first matchmaking algorithm in 1995, thousands of other sites developed their own compatibility tests matching you with an ideal career, perfect wedding dress and now: your dream puppy.

Elizabeth Holmes, CEO and co-founder of Paws Like Me, knows finding the right dog can be a difficult process.

“After running a rescue group for eight years, I knew how much people struggled with identifying the right pet for their family, and unfortunately, there isn’t much guidance available beyond traditional breed characteristics,” she tells Tech Insider.

That’s why a veterinarian and clinical social worker helped develop the Paws Like Me compatability test, which boasts a 90% match accuracy. It has 39 Agree/Disagree questions like, “I would exercise with my dog every day,” “I prefer a quiet evening in than going out with friends,” or “I don’t mind having hair on me from an affectionate dog.”

In less than five minutes, the quiz provides a short description of your ideal dog based on energy, confidence, focus and independence. A snippet from mine reads: “You want a dog that is happiest in your arms or your lap. You like lots of affection from your pet and don’t mind him snuggling with you.” (Confirmed, I love a good fluffy snuggle.)

The site then directs you to rescue dogs in your area that match your preferences. Each pup profile has a compatibility percentage, basic information and adorable photos to help you get to know your matches.

If you’re interested in adopting a furry friend, you can contact the shelter and/or apply directly from their site. The idea is to make the adoption process seamless and to help as many rescues as possible. Since launching in 2015, the site has facilitated more than 500,000 doggie adoptions.

If you’re more of a cat person, Holmes says adding a kitty compatibility test is the company’s next frontier. But for all the dog lovers out there, take the quiz yourself and find yourself a furever friend.
