What’s going on in Berlin? The city where even fashion cannot be without some electronic music on the side.

Bread and Butter, the Berlin trade and fashion show for everyday clothing and streetwear opened its doors last Friday. We took the occasion to check it out and we asked ourselves one main question: can occasions like this express the soul of Berlin’s fashion scene?

The policy of avoiding red velvet ropes has been positively embraced by a varied crowd, which invaded the beautiful inner Arena space, together with the open-air Badeschiff, swimming pool and the boiler room. Dance floors and live music can’t indeed be missing in any respectful fashion occasion: 21 music performances, welcoming a long lineup of djs, took turns to the numerous fashion shows, of brands as Puma, TopShop and Hugo.

Street food, selfie spots, catwalks and live sets are essential elements in a Berlin fashion event and, to underline the connection with the city, both the location and the new partnerships and proposals launched by the organization Zalando.

But even if this informal hangout could be considered as an alternative fashion event, as something that has to deal with the underground scene especially compared to the fashion events in my hometown, Milano, it isn’t fully so. We think the real underground Berlin is indeed somewhere else, in smaller former industrial buildings or GDR apartments, waiting for real new hunters to discover it.

At Omioo, we believe in authentic locally sourced street fashion. We carefully select single pieces, able to reflect the personality and the environment of our creators, with the aim to allow you to discover and learn more about what is going on around Europe.
