My spanish mother swears that any food not cooked in Olive oil is terribly unhealthy and will kill you. But, do you really know how much Olive oil does for you?

It’s good for your heart

Taking four tablespoons of olive oil a day can lower your risk of having a heart attack, suffering from a stroke or dying of heart disease significantly.

It reduces pain

A team from the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia showed that said small dose of extra virgin olive oil can in long-term mimic the effects of ibuprofen. Thus, protecting you from arthritis and even Alzheimer (1).

It keeps your brain agile

Several studies have proven that consuming monounsaturated fats, the “good” fats that appear in high amounts inside olive oil, is associated with better cognitive function and memory with age. So, maybe you should remember about this!

It will make you beautiful

Ok, this one is a little bit of a sketch, but olive oil is found in everything from skin moisturizers to nail care kits. Its antioxidants are good for healing your internal cells, and let’s say that a healthy body is a beautiful one!

You can also DIY your own olive oil mask, like Lancôme mega blogger Michelle Phan does in this video:
