How to Win in Startups
In Honor of Super Bowl LIII…Featuring Quotes from Your Favorite Rappers.
Are you rooting for the Patriots or the Rams? We’ll still be friends with you either way. Sound off here.
In honor of the Great Super Bowl LIII, here’s a little advice from rappers and our CEO, Kumar Patel, on how to win…in startups. Or football. Or life.
Sweet deal, right? Read on, peeps.
Consistency
“Never stop fighting no matter what anyone says. If it’s in your gut, your soul, there’s nothing, no worldly possession that should come between you and your expression.” — Kanye West
Stay focused on your vision. Keep pushing forward. While you’re at it, pay attention to detail. Keep doing the little things that are frequently overlooked.
Routine
A Routine = Maximum Productivity
What sort of routine, though? It might take you a while to figure out what works for you. After all, everyone’s different. But there will be something that’ll work for you. Maybe it’s the grueling Mark Wahlberg routine, or maybe it’s waking up at 11 am and working until 11 pm.
Persevere, friend. There’s a routine for you.
Positivity
“You gotta be able to smile through the bull****.” — Tupac
Believe in yourself. Surround yourself with people who push you to be better everyday. There’s a difference between naysayers and those who give constructive criticism. Nix the former, seek the latter.
Communication
It’s best to be up front and communicate clearly. There will be times when you need to have tough conversations — don’t shy away from those. Just rip the band-aid off.
Side note: Communication also seems to work very well in romantic relationship(s)…in case you didn’t know.
Lose The Battle to Win the War
“Sometimes a loss is the best thing that can happen. It teaches you what you should have done next time.” — Snoop Dogg
This is a very important point to remember. It’s easy to get caught up in each battle that arises, while losing sight of the war…the big picture. This takes us back to #1. Make sure you stay focused on the vision.
You might have to lose a few battles to win in the end. But that’s okay.
