Dodgers’ high-stakes bet on baseball’s unique talent.

The biggest free agent signing of the offseason finally happened.

Shohei Ohtani signed a 10-year 700 million dollar deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Most people saw this coming. I thought he’d go to Toronto, although deep down I knew he’d go to the Dodgers.

700 million dollars is an insane amount of money to pay one player. I’ve seen many people talking online saying that this contract might be a bust, and I don’t believe it will be.

Shohei Ohtani is a one-of-a-kind player, the only player since Babe Ruth a century ago to pitch and hit at the major league level consistently well.

Shohei has only played in America for 6 years and he’s already won 2 MVPS and came close to winning a Cy Young Award as well.

Ohtani’s skill set is there. He’s shown it. But I’m worried about his health and that he might not be able to stay on the field. He already had Tommy John surgery back in 2019, and he’s now undergoing another elbow surgery, sidelining him from pitching for the 2024 season.

I have a feeling that Shohei’s pitching won’t be the same after he comes back from this injury and he might not be worth the 700 million dollars in the future. Ohtani will bring fans to Dodgers Stadium and do his job at bat. But his pitching will be lacking and he might not be able to pitch for the entire contract.

Congrats to the Dodgers for signing this one-of-a-kind talent.

The Dodgers just might be able to win a ring with Ohtani on their squad. Hopefully, Ohtani will stay healthy and pitch during their championship runs.
