Octopus Network Accelerator Winter 2021 Batch in Review
The Winter 2021 batch is the first batch of projects to have completed the Octopus Accelerator Program.
A month ago we hosted our inaugural Showcase Day where 11 projects from the Winter 2021 batch presented virtually. You can see a list of the projects that presented and the winners of the Octopus Start Prize in this blog post.
Here are some stats on the Winter 2021 batch:
- 45 participants
- 80% are developers
- 90% of the projects are based in China
- 11 projects presented in Showcase Day
- 5 projects received the Octopus Star Prize with $50K USD worth of grants
- 19 experts and mentors were available for advice
- 6 video lessons and live seminars
In 2021, many Octopus Network Accelerator founders led their companies to achieve outstanding results and we are honored to be part of these companies’ history. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, our founders were able to launch testnets, build communities, and raise funding from leading investors.
Here are some highlights:
- DISCOVOL (W21), a decentralized community for discovering and propagating science-based health information with a distinctive token incentive mechanism. Launched their testnet.
- Fusatao (W21), a verification protocol for an order book-based matching system. Received a grant from the NEAR Protocol. Brings order book DEX to NEAR Ecosystem.
- Atocha Protocol (W21), a blockchain treasure hunt game created by the fans themselves who create, solve, and monetize their hobby.
- PNS (W21), is the next-generation decentralized domain name system.
- Web3Go (W21), a Web3.0 open data analytics platform.
- Gameland (W21), a GameFi NFT distribution platform.
- Nulls World (W21), a P2E GameFi project.
- Legend of Beasts (W21), the first MMORPG + Social + VR + NFT game.
- Phu Quoc Dog (W21), a decentralized social network and NFT platform for pets.
- Kad Network (W21), decentralized instant messaging.
During the 7-week program, members of the Octopus Network core team and our extensive network of experts and mentors worked alongside our companies. We tried to be as helpful as we could to offer the best program for Web3.0 companies.
A few program highlights:
- Video Lessons are free, open and composable courses on multiple Web 3.0 concepts accessible to anyone
- Live Seminars with the creators of the video lessons, each an expert in their field, to answer questions and go in-depth with key concepts
- Group Sessions which act as a co-founder matching service where business and tech people can come together and form new companies
At Octopus Network, our mission is to unleash a new wave of innovation for Web3.0 by offering the best infrastructure to substrate-based application specific blockchains, aka appchains. As part of this mission, the Octopus Accelerator Program is committed to helping founders start the next big thing in Web3.0.
The more startups building on Web3.0, the more innovations, and the sooner we will experience the Web3.0 revolution. Just like the companies participating in our program, Octopus Accelerator is always evolving. We have big plans for 2022 and will continue to iterate to provide the founders with the best programs and tools to improve their chances of success.
The Spring 2022 batch is now currently underway. The Spring batch started on Feb 28th and will conclude on April 9th, with the Showcase Day on April 18th.
