August 2022 Highlights
- Discovol DAO appchain launched.
- Fusotao appchain launched its mainnet, and FXDX, Fusotao’s DEX, went live.
- Fusotao released its Avatar Wallet, the first Substrate-based appchain wallet for the NEAR and Octopus Network ecosystems.
- Louis Liu, Founder of Octopus Network, introduced the vision of the Octopus DAO in the August Community Call.
- September Community Call is at 21:00 GMT+8, September 8th.
- Octopus Accelerator Fall 2022 recruited more than 100 teams — The top ten finalists will participate in Showcase Day on Wednesday, September 7 at 9 pm BST.
- The Octopus Network Global Substrate Developer Training Program has successfully expanded to Nigeria and Mexico.
- The Octopus Network Team has been heavily engaged with its global community with IRL meetups, online events, and training in countries across the globe, including Vietnam, Philippines, Nigeria, Singapore, Thailand, Mexico, and Peru.
- The Octopus Network prepares for NEARCON 2022, Lisbon, Portugal with special speakers and events — even at sea!

Octopus Network Smart Contracts
The Anchor contract provides security and cross-chain-related functions for the application chain.
The Registry contract primarily manages the appchain lifecycle.
- The Octopus Network Registry and Anchor contracts were updated, including the template selection for registering an appchain, e.g., EVM appchain, etc.
Octopus Network IBC Module

With the Substrate IBC pallet, Octopus Network Appchains can eventually be fully interconnected with Cosmos and Polkadot.
- The Substrate IBC module is finalizing milestone 4. The Substrate IBC pallet is expected to be available by the end of Q4.

Appchain Events
Fusotao Appchain
Fusotao Protocol launched its main network and goes live with FXDX.
FXDX is an order book style DEX to give traders the best of all worlds — a seamless CEX-like user experience in a decentralized environment with trading privacy, minimal gas fees, and lower trading costs.
Fusotao officially released Avatar Wallet. Avatar Wallet is the first Substrate-based appchain wallet for the NEAR and Octopus Ecosystems.
Myriad Appchain
Myriad.Social users can now send tips to content creators on Twitter and Reddit, even if they are not yet on Myriad. Tips on Myriad are now supported in $OCT, $MYRIA, $DBIO, $ATO and $DEIP tokens.
Metasocial tipping is the concept of tipping a content creator through a wallet generated from their unique Web3 social media account ID. The ability to reward quality content outside of walled-garden Web2 tools, such as Patreon, is a key catalyst for the Web3 social media revolution wherein content creators own their data with more options for incentives and monetization.
Discovol Appchain
Discovol Dao, a global open content curation collaborative, has launched its Appchain.

Discovol DAO held an AMA with the Octopus Network Community
UniqueOne Network Appchain
UniqueOne Network, a multi-chain interoperable NFT Marketplace and the first EVM compatible Appchain on Octopus Network, has been approved in the Voting Queue by the Octopus Network Community and is now in the Booting Phase preparing for launch.
PortalVerse Appchain
PortalVerse, a decentralized cloud gaming protocol, announces its first metaverse partnership with Project Oasis, a gamified metaverse social oasis experience.
Plats Network Appchain
Plats Network, a community-owned Web3 marketing platform, presented at “Building in the Web3 Era,” an event co-hosted by Octopus Network and GFS Ventures, Vietnam.
Octopus Network Community Governance
The second Octopus Network Community Call was successfully held on August 8th to continue the dialogue with the community regarding the community governance of the Octopus Network.
The Community Call is held on Discord on the 8th of each month at 21:00 GMT+8 for all verified validators, delegators, and Core Team Members via Discord and conducted in both English and Chinese.

The August 8th Community Call included the following key topics.
- Founder Louis Liu introduced the Octopus Network’s four-pronged plan for the Octopus DAO, the DAO’s three primary powers, and the election strategy of the DAO Council.
- The design principles behind the 20% commission fee to validators.
- Octopus Network’s preparations for NEARCON 2022.
- Portalverse Network completed a multi-million-dollar seed round, and Octopus and Portalverse jointly launched the Chinese and British markets.
- Octopus Network updated the appchain template to support NFT cross-chain transfer and EVM.

Accelerator Showcase Day Fall 2022
The Fall 2022 Accelerator Program culminates in Showcase Day. 70 Showcase Day applications were received and over 20 projects were interviewed.
Finally, the top 10 projects were chosen to participate and present their MVP to the Accelerator Judges to compete for one of the five Octopus Star Prizes worth 50k in funding each.
Showcase Day was held on September 7th, and the winners will be announced on September 9th.
