September 2023 Highlights
1. October 8 is Octopus Day, the 2nd anniversary of Octopus Network mainnet launch. The Octopus Network community will host Octopus Day activities led by Octopus Nation. Stay tuned.
2. Louis was invited to speak at NEARAPAC held in Vietnam. NEAR Protocol co-founder Illia had in-depth discussions with Louis and greatly affirmed Octopus 2.0.
3. The Octopus Foundation decides to sponsor 40,000,000 $OCT as rewards for validators and delegators of Ottochain, the application chain of Octopus.
4. The third episode of the Octopus 2.0 video series produced by Octopus Network partner Vivi, The NEAR IBC Port, is officially released.
5. Louis has been successfully elected to The NEAR Digital Collective V1 Governance, allowing us to participate more effectively in the governance of the NEAR ecosystem.
R&D｜Technical Development Progress
Octopus Network 2.0 & Apps
1、Updated the deployment process for the Cosmos SDK Appchain and API gateway;
2、The full nodes of OttoChain Testnet were down and the OttoChain network was reset;
Octopus Network 2.0 NEAR Restaking
Integrated front-end and tested some functions;
Octopus Network 2.0 Adaptive IBC
1、Updated the VP design and implementation, and did the testing for the cross-chain transfer of NEAR ←→ Oyster;
2、Implement the IBC-Anchor contracts.
Octopus Network Appchain Ecosystem
Five Appchains have launched and eight Appchain Candidates are in various stages of development.
The Octopus Network currently operates 5 Appchains: Fusotao, Myriad, Atocha, DeBio, and Discovol.

Fusotao built Tournament functionality for the popular 3A-grade open world ARPG Web3 game AbyssWorld, and provided Quick Swap: conveniently swap and transparently use $AWT at fair prices with the liquidity of various EVM compatible chains.

Octopus Network Community Call#14
On September 8th, we convened for our 14th community call, marking another step forward in our journey.
Octopus 2.0 will introduce $NEAR Restaking and NEAR-IBC to the NEAR ecosystem, which could be a catalyst for the development of the NEAR ecosystem. We need the NEAR community to understand our plans and express support.
In September, Octopus Network founder Louis will attend NEAR APAC, and try to participate in November’s NEARCON, hoping to have more communication with NEAR’s core team and major stakeholders, especially delegators, validators and ecosystem projects that may adopt $NEAR Restaking as their security source. Let all NEAR ecosystem projects know that they can directly build security from $NEAR Restaking, without having to complete security bootstrapping themselves.
In October, Louis will also attend an important Cosmos event in Istanbul. We remain active in the Cosmos community, also hoping application chain teams building on Cosmos SDK all know that compared to Interchain Security with Cosmos Hub, Octopus Network offers affordable, flexible and accessible leased security options. And NEAR will be a new high-performance blockchain that can achieve IBC interoperability.
Hope the Octopus Network, NEAR and Cosmos communities can all understand the importance of $NEAR Restaking and NEAR-IBC, and leverage their full potential.
Octopus Network Global Influence
Louis Invited to Speak at NEARAPAC Held in Vietnam
NEAR Protocol co-founder Illia had in-depth discussions with Louis and greatly affirmed Octopus 2.0.
Ottochain, the EVM-compatible application chain based on Cosmos SDK and initiated by the Octopus community, launched its testnet. It will become the first application chain using $NEAR Restaking as its economic security source. The Octopus Foundation decides to sponsor 4,000,000 $OCT as rewards for validators and delegators of Ottochain, the application chain, accounting for 4% of the total $OCT token supply. This is the largest reward the Octopus community has ever received.

Roundtable: Frontiers of Public Chains — Future Prospects of Technology and Ecosystem
On September 17, Louis was invited to attend the Web3 Dev Summit Shanghai 2023 hosted by TinTin. He participated as a guest in the roundtable discussion on “Frontiers of Public Chains: Future Prospects of Technology and Ecosystem”. Louis believes modular blockchains are a very suitable path for Ethereum’s scaling evolution, but other public chains do not necessarily need to chase the modularization trend, yet may eventually converge despite different paths.

On September 20, Louis was invited to host the Modular Blockchain Panel, conducting in-depth discussions on the latest trends and technical implementations of modular blockchains.
Octopus 2.0 Video Series Revealed
The third episode of the Octopus 2.0 video series produced by Octopus Network partner Vivi, The NEAR IBC Port, is officially released.
Adaptive IBC uses an off-chain verification proxy and its client to replace the light client. It solves the high cost issue of Tendermint light client validation in IBC architecture when crossing between heterogeneous blockchains. It also better adapts to new technologies, with client upgrades achieved through governance, completely transparent to upper layer applications.
