AWGEST Kicks Off With a Banger

ASAP Twelvyy just dropped his debut album, 12, in a climate where the music that’s popping is mostly put out by what people call mumble rappers, ASAP Twelvyy came in just in time. That isn’t meant to diss mumble rap, but to say that Twelvyy definitely has an audience that is looking for his sound. There’s a lot of people that are hungry for that straight New York sound, and Twelvyy is the definition of a straight New York rapper in the context of our generation. He has the gritty New York sound with a slight update all the way down to his beats. 12 is a really tough album that is what old heads would want New York rap to sound like, and I love it. This is, or at least should be a major release but it has the feel of a local mixtape because the features include other New York artists like A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, Fredro Starr, Flatbush Zombies, Joey Badass, and Smooky MarGielaa. Just the idea of it being centered around New York is enough to make some fall in love with the project, including me. I’m really excited to see what Twelvyy and ASAP Mob are doing next, and I’m pretty sure AWGEST is going to bring a lot more bangers because Ferg is next in line with his album dropping two weeks from now, and it all leads to Cozy Tapes Vol. 2.
