. As the NFL season is around the corner and hype builds up around teams who have had a great off-season like the Browns, Raiders, and the Kansas City Chiefs but how good can the New York Jets be next season?

. The Jets have been underperforming for three years in a row as they have ended fourth in the AFC east consecutively, with fans and players frustrated and disappointed change has been made. New GM Mike Maccagnan coming in this off-season with $100 million in cap space and great motivation to use it, he came out making many moves reaching out to former Dolphins head coach Adam Gase who to some might not be a proven NFL head coach but personally I feel he’s a coach with many great ideas but didn’t have the right tools in Miami to get that extra step to reach the first round of playoffs. GM Mike Maccagnan made Ravens former captain C.J. Mosley one of the highest paid linebackers in the league with a five-year deal worth $85 million that guarantees $51 million. The Jets and Maccagnan then went out after Steelers star running back Le’Veon Bell who signed to a four-year deal worth $52.5 million with $35 million guaranteed.

. Sam Darnold QB for the Jets is coming in to his sophomore season with a freshman year behind him that showed how much potential this kid has as he throw at an average of (57.7%) completion rate. Darnold should be looking forward to next season as he’s working with a new Head Coach Adam Gase who was hired specifically because of his quality work with quarterbacks, plus an All-Star running back behind him with the ability to open up the offense, rushing and receiving wise which should help Sam Darnold who also has Robby Anderson, Chris Herndon, Quincy Enunwa and Crowder in the passing game. “I don’t feel any pressure,” Darnold said Thursday night at the unveiling of the new uniforms. “I think, for me, it’s more tools in the toolbox. When I’m out there making the same reads, going through the same progressions as I did, it’s just putting the ball in some playmaker’s hands and letting him go to work. I know that’s going to be really fun game-planning with all these weapons that we have. I’m just really stoked to be able to get back to work and get back to work with these new weapons.” Jet fans should be excited about Darnold’s comments as we saw him perform very relaxed and almost like a veteran in his position the last four games of the season which the Jets just won one of.

. The upcoming draft will be huge for GM Mike Maccagnan and the Jets has they have the third pick of the first round with all predictions leading towards the Jets drafting 6’5” 260 lb edge rusher out of Kentucky Josh Allen which would help defensive coordinator Gregg Williams problems with pass-rushing. “It would be pretty cool,” said Allen of playing for either the Jets or the Giants. With a defense ranked on the lower side of the NFL stat board a young explosive edge rusher who led the SEC with 17 sacks last year would rejuvenate their defense.

. I see the Jets as a giant sleeper for the upcoming season with a division that has a very weak Dolphins team a mediocre Bills and a aging Patriots team.A new coach in Adam Gase a young and ambitious quarterback and a couple new star signings they should have a great chance of making playoffs for the first time in eight years.
