Oscar Gloukh is the Epitome of Raw Talent
Maybe you’ve heard of him, maybe you haven’t, but what’s certain is that every big club in the world has their eyes on the Israeli youngster. At just 19 years of age, you only need to watch him for a few minutes to see the undeniable talent he has.
Gloukh has an amazing ability to blow past defenders thereby creating scoring opportunities for his teammates by laying off a quick pass. His technical ability is astounding and combined with his speed, he’s a formidable force on the pitch.
The kid can score a goal too, which is obviously a coveted skill for an attacking midfielder but I think it’s his ability to wriggle away from high-pressure opposition that makes him a wunderkind.
Gloukh made his true breakout with the Israeli U19 national team in the 2022 UEFA Euros. He scored a stunner of a goal in the final against England, a goal that required great technical skill, composure, and placement.
He receives the ball at the edge of the box and his body placement is such that he takes a deft touch with his right foot and immediately drives it forward.
With two defenders closing in on him, Gloukh makes a quick cut to the right…
And lays a quick, grass-cutting strike off his right foot and through those defenders that rattles into the top left corner.
It really is a strike of technical brilliance and one born of high-IQ body shape and attacking positioning. You could even call it Salah-esque.
After making his mark in last year’s Euros, Gloukh attracted interest from European giants Dortmund, Ajax, and even Barcelona. At the time, he was playing for Israel Premier League side Maccabi Tel-Aviv, bitter rivals of better-known Maccabi Haifa.
Gloukh also demonstrated patience and maturity by biding his time with the Israeli side and eventually going on to sign with Austrian club RB Salzburg.
He even said:
In the end, I think we made the right decision to go to Salzburg and not to Barcelona. It makes more sense for my development as a player.
And I couldn’t agree more. RB Salzburg and Bundesliga sides in general are great development grounds for up-and-coming talent.
Gloukh is still young, but a clear exceptional talent. I suspect he’ll be scooped up by a European giant in the coming years before his contract with Salzburg expires in 2027.
Should he continue to stay fit and work on his development, he could very well be a world-class forward in the new generation. An exciting prospect to keep an eye on, for sure.
