Welcome to the FIRST EDITION of a column titled ON BLAST. As our league is evolving and undergoing leadership changes (THANK THE LORD), I think it’s time for more user generated content. For this introductory post, and maybe a few posts leading up our 2015 kick off, I’ll be highlighting owners who deserved to be put ON BLAST from last year.

Every good story has a beginning, and for ON BLAST, the inception of this story stems from a trade between two owners that went down Sept 18 2014 3:57 AM, and was so flabbergasted by how foolish this trade was. So for my very first post, RAMON’S TEAM you are officially ON BLAST.

To fully grasp how bad this trade was (enough to motivate me to sit in front of this computer and write about it), I actually have to take you back 10 days before Sept 18.

Sept 8. The front office of Ramon’s team has committed to send Eddie Lacy for Darren Sproles (a BACKUP to LeSean McCoy) and Andrew Hawkins (I don’t blame you if you forgot this guy, but he was a WR for the CLEVLAND BROWNS). I would use deep analytics and offer some statistical data to back up why this trade was such a sham, but all it really takes is simple common sense. It’s WEEK 1. Owners should be patient and trust in the research that was done on the players to pull through (unless you auto-drafted and therefore did ZERO research AKA RAMON’S TEAM), But even then, there is a reason why ESPN, YAHOO, BLEACHER REPORT or whatever fantasy website you use has Lacy ranked top5. Coaches are fine tuning their offenses, players are adjusting to getting back on the gridiron, and those injured during preseason are still trying to get their legs back. There is really no reason to make a trade after WEEK 1.

Sept 18. The front office of Ramon’s team has committed to a trade w/ a few tweaks and WAS NOT VETOED (I think owner golden tater tots wrote some sort of rant on how vetoed should only be used in instances of collusion, and magically no one wanted to veto). He sends Eddie Lacy (Avg as 6th overall pick by owners) and Keenan Allen (avg as 41st overall pick) for Pierre Garcon (41st overall pick) Jeremy Macklin (74th overall pick) and Darren Sproles (94th overall pick). Most fantasy gurus also know that running backs are the most coveted position in the L, especially the elite RBs that have the ability to make plays through the ground and air. Also, after the QB position, WRs are the deepest positions in the L. It is so much easier to find a serviceable WR than a workhorse like Eddie Lacy. Also the amount of consistency a RB brings far outweighs how reliant a WR is for the QB to put the ball on the money (I think now would be fair to mention we have Nick Foles and then the “Sanchize” throwing the ball to Maclin, and a literally half-brained one legged RGIII which made the transition to Colt McCoy) while Lacy is running behind an incredibly offensive line and not to mention catching passes from THE GREAT Aaron Rodgers.

Now to be fair, Maclin and Garcon didn’t have a complete bust of a season. but knowing all these factors at play and it being so early on in the season making this trade ramps up the risk you take in and solidifies the team towards championship glory.
