MMQB (Monday Morning Quarterback) Blast is a rapid overreaction on how a trade fared after the recent week’s slate of games.

Danny traded away: R. Woods + A. Ekeler + P. Mahomes + $25 FAAB

Alex traded away: A. Jones + J. Williams + J. Brisett

Kerryon’s placement on the IR sent Alex into a deep despair, and like Quill in Infinity War, Alex acted out of his rage, trading away both Packers RB’s, and possibly jeopardized Golladay and Montgomery’s herculean efforts.

Alex had previously shown a penchant for pursuing league-winners (though never actually winning the league). But A. Jones has the looks of a legit league-winner after scoring 41.6 points:

  • A. Jones is averaging 10.7 points per game off receiving work alone, which falls shy of R. Wood’s average by a slim margin of 1.6 points.
  • A. Jones is top-6 among RB’s in targets per game. (Rodgers had Jones split out wide on several routes.)
  • A. Jones is also the target leader among all players on the Packers.

Meanwhile, Bobby Woods usage is being stolen by several of his coworkers: J. Reynolds, G. Everett, and even D. Henderson saw more targets than R. Woods. And Woods has not cleared 20% of the team’s targets in the past 4 weeks.

The more hindsight analysis is done on this trade, the more unbecoming of Alex it looks. Neither Woods or Ekeler are really high-ceiling guys, as their workloads (that typically lends to ceiling weeks) are being siphoned off to other guys.

Compounded on top of all those negative signs: this was the one week that David Montgomery actually put together his breakout game! This was the week that Alex was supposed to do his TD dances in his living room, home alone. Imagine, if he didn’t do this trade…Alex would be riding on some serious Endgame vibes. Instead, this season is potentially looking like just one out of infinity championship-less seasons.
