Welcome to the first issue of “Drip, Flip, or Skip”

To further lean into the fantasy chaos, this weekly segment will spotlight opinionated feedback (occasionally from the owners themselves) based on the categories below. As usual, do take everything personally 😅!

DRIP💧: Players who looked good

FLIP🤝: Exchanges & Acquisitions

SKIP🚫: Hard pass

DRIP💧

Players who looked good

Alex’s Hollywood Brown (15.1 pts)

@AA: “3…2…1… Action 🎬! Not quite as much action as I hoped from Hollywood Brown (no TD) but I’ll take a 100 yd game anytime 💯”

Danny’s Josh Jacobs (35.9 pts)

Jacobs rarely caught passes last year, but all of Gruden’s offseason chatter about expanding his receiving role finally materialized (2nd on team with 46 receiving yds)! Elite drip.

Ramon’s Robby Anderson (25.5 pts) & Raheem Mostert (25.1 pts)

Happy Gilmore learned how to putt! Typically a deep ball threat, Robby produced off short, intermediate looks. Did he do enough to earn a spot in Ramon’s lineup as a WR3? As for Mostert, Ramon gets to start a RB1/2 in his flex spot.

Kong’s Kyler Murray (26.3 pts) & DeAndre Hopkins (29.1 pts)

Kyler ran wild against a tough 49ers defense, showing RB1 type rushing numbers (91 yards, 1 TD), while also dishing a career-high 14 receptions to ‘Nuk. That’s the sound of a season-long winning $tack.

FLIP🤝

Exchanges & Acquisitions

Sam’s Cam Newton (25.7 pts)
Caleb’s N’Keal Harry (8.9 pts)

@smy: “Cam = QB1 + RB1”

If Cam keeps up his RB1 numbers (15 rushes, 7 of them were designed runs) and starts throwing for multiple TD’s, Caleb traded away a screaming value ($1) and potential league-winner.

Vince’s Austin Ekeler (9.70 pts)
Caleb’s D.J. Chark (11.5 pts) + Cam Akers (5.3 pts)

@caleb: “Trade embargo lifted with a monumental deal with Vincent’s team. However, this is starting to shake out to be this years’s Louisiana Purchase. Did Vincent’s team hand the keys off to a diminutive Napoleon?”

Danny’s Stefon Diggs (16.6 pts)
Benny’s Allen Lazard (18.2 pts)

Danny acquired a core asset in Diggs (who caught all 8 of his targets). In order for Benny to maintain trade balance, 1–2 of the pieces Benny received from Danny needs to be consistently good. Lazard has a good shot at channeling James Jones vibes.

SKIP🚫

Hard Pass

Benny’s Kerryon Johnson as FLEX (1.4 pts)

@benny: “What a bust. Dude got outplayed by old man AP (rushed 14 times for 93 yards, 3 catches for 20 yards)

Josh’s Nick Chubb as Elite RB1 (5.6 pts)

Stretching back to Hunt’s arrival in Cleveland last season, Hunt has averaged nearly same points per game as Chubb on sub-50% snaps. Chubb will still be good, but probably not remotely close to the elite tier with Hunt in the picture.

PC’s Kenny Stills (0 pts) & Brandin Cooks (4.0 pts) as WR3/4

Watson’s O-line crumbled snap after snap against the Chiefs pass rush. With Watson running wild behind a swiss cheese line, Stills and Cooks deep routes are in jeopardy. Easy pass moving forward.

Jesse’s Mecole Hardman as WR3 (1.6 pts)

With DeMarcus Robinson eating up the 3rd most snaps among the Chief’s wide receivers, Hardman looks like a hail mary or punt return threat right now.
