Staff Picks is a new series that I’ve created to help show off some of the amazing bots on our list. Every month we’ll be bringing you some of our favorite bots from Bots on Discord. Six staff members will select a bot they think deserves more attention and write a small section about it. Each bot will receive a badge on their page and be featured on the front page at the start of the month. Without any further explanation, here are the Staff Picks for July 2019.

PatchBot

Selected by: Brussell

PatchBot’s website

Want an easy way to stay up-to-date with your favorite games? PatchBot delivers updates and patch notes from some of the most popular games right to your Discord server!

I chose PatchBot as one of this month’s Staff Picks because it’s easy to use, well designed, and provides a useful service to Discord’s target userbase. At no cost you get unlimited game updates for all supported games, but if you need a little more then premium offers features like role mentioning and pinning updates.

Rythm

Selected by: jas777

Rythm’s dashboard

If you want to listen high quality music with your friends, playmates or just random people — Rythm is the right choice.

Many bots claim they serve high quality music, that they have high uptime and they don’t lag. The problem is, that most of them turn out to be generic music bots with laggy music and commands blocked for users that didn’t vote. Rythm is really serving high-quality music, and more importantly, it doesn’t force you to buy or vote in order to use core features, it has high uptime, and you can have up to 3 Rythms in your guild as there is also Rythm 2 — which is just another instance of Rythm, and Rythm Canary, which is a less stable test version of the bot.

ModMail

Selected by: BxPanxi

You need to maintain the satisfaction of all the members in your Discord, but we all run into problems occasionally and need help. With ModMail you can easily give your members access to members of the staff team with no difficulty at all! In order to set it up, all you have to do is go through a few simple steps using =setup. Once that’s done, the bot is all set up for your server!

Why Did I Choose ModMail?

I chose ModMail because of the easy accessibility and simple setup. It’s a great idea and is a fun way to contact staff as well.

FredBoat

Selected by: Brussell

FredBoat is well known for being one of the best music bots. It’s easy to use and everything feels polished. Just because it’s easy doesn’t mean it’s simple though. FredBoat can do everything from seeking, shuffling, repeating, skipping, searching, volume-ing, history-ing, and more.

And just in case you needed more, FredBoat has commands for moderation, information, fun, utility, and configuration. Speaking of configuration, FredBoat supports multiple languages and custom prefixes. Lastly, FredBoat is completely open-source and Fred contributes a lot to the open-source community (ever heard of LavaLink?).

With all this praise I think you can see why I chose to feature FredBoat in this first edition of Staff Picks. If you want to learn more and/or add FredBoat to your server click the link below to go to their page.

Ayana

Selected by: Brussell

Ayana is a multipurpose bot with a focus on the anime community. Ayana is packed with images and reaction commands thanks to their weeb.sh integration. It also contains a few utility and moderation commands as well as a music system. Among these are a self-assignable role system and afk system. Ayana also supports many languages, allowing you to set both the server’s and your personal locale. To see what else Ayana can do for you and your server check out their page on Bots on Discord.

Dank Memer

Selected by: Brussell

When it comes to meme bots nothing beats Dank Memer. Unlike more serious bots everything is done with a less serious tone (not that they aren’t serious) making it more entertaining and fun to use. Since Dank Memer is a multipurpose bot with tons of commands I won’t be covering everything here, but here are some highlights.

Starting with music, Dank Memer has all the standard stuff plus playlists, clips, radios, lyrics, and more. There are a ton of image creating commands for making memes (as shown above). It can also fetch memes from other places around the internet if you aren’t very funny. There are some moderation commands including a decancer command to clean up bad names. Lastly, Dank Memer is known for its detailed currency system including lootboxes, stealing, power-ups, quests, and more. If you’re interested in learning more or using Dank Memer check out their page on Bots on Discord.

Want a chance to be featured in the Staff Picks for future months? Submit your bot to Bots on Discord and if it’s good and original you might get selected!

I hope you like this new series. If you don’t or if you have an idea please let me know in our Discord server (we’re always looking for feedback). Hopefully next month I’ll be able to get more staff members to participate for a more diverse selection of bots.
