The Enlightened Classroom

A wish-list — as I would “pitch it” to a child.

  1. Let’s encourage your curious and creative side! You can ask questions, try new things, and take risks in your learning. This will help you become a better thinker and problem solver — which is really important in our fast-changing world.
  2. In normal school, do you learn about different subjects like math, science, and history? In this classroom, we take a different approach. We’ll study big topics that are fun: like how musicians work together in an orchestra, or how nature works, or how to build a computer, and look at them from many different angles. This will help us be better at solving problems in real life.
  3. Do you like to create things? In this classroom, we don’t do exams. Instead, we show what we’ve learned by making things, and sometimes even get prizes for them. And not just students! Even teachers get prizes for what their students create.
  4. Learning starts close to home! To understand the world, we need to first learn about the people and places around us. We also need to care for our community — our friends, family, and neighbors. That’s why we’ll explore and get involved in our local community.
  5. Do you like working with others? In this classroom, we’ll often work together in pairs or groups. This way, we can learn from each other, share ideas, and have fun. We’ll also learn important skills like how to communicate well and work as a team.
  6. Imagine being able to choose what and how you learn! In this classroom, we’ll let you pick topics that interest you and learn in a way that works best for you. You’ll have more control over your own learning, which will help you be more independent and motivated.
  7. Imagine a classroom where you can be the teacher! In our classroom, you and your classmates take turns teaching each other and even the teacher. This means we all learn from each other and have fun doing it!
  8. Do you ever feel sad or anxious? Mindfulness can help! We’ll take time in class to practice being present in the moment and pay attention to our thoughts, feelings and surroundings. This will help us feel more calm and focused — and even help us learn better.

Would you like to join our classroom!!!??? 😊
