Don’t Be an Egghead on Twitter

Five things your egghead profile picture tells the world about you, unless your nick is @egghead of course. (This one is also to you guys who upload logos to represent your face on Twitter.)

1. “I don’t understand social media”

Choosing an egg to represent your face on social media and at the same time expect to be taken serious, is like walking around with a paper bag on your head expecting people to take you serious. It is just weird. Being sociable, which is a prerequisite for social media success, is hard without showing your face to the people you are communicating with.

2. “I don’t care”

You made a Twitter profile, but you didn’t make the effort to try and make it look nice. This tells me you’re not serious about it, and who wants to follow someone with that attitude?

3. “I’m just incompetent”

It is OK not to know. But everybody knows someone who is tech-savvy enough to help you upload a picture to your Twitter profile. Being incompetent in a small field (like image editing etc.) is different from being incompetent generally speaking.

4. “I have a beauty complex”

That’s OK, but there are creative ways to work around this issue. There is beauty in everyone and if you can’t see that in yourself, try looking at the details and upload a picture showing your eyes or a part of your face. Voilá! You just turned into the “mystical creative person”. Congratulations!

5. “I just got started”

That is OK. But don’t be an egghead forever.
