In this guest blog from Field Notes For Innovation, Business Designer and Strategic Innovator Carolyn Wesley offers her thoughts on the On Purpose Annual Event with Jonathon Porritt, and what the future could look like.

“We are headed towards a place that the government doesn’t fully understand. One of the key insights of the future that Porritt provides is that in order for us to get to a fairer and a relatively pleasant world, there has to be shocks to the current system. These shocks could be as a result of food insecurity or riots about access to clean water. Key events such as these will lead to change, and it is only when we reach the breaking point will government be able to provide the support for change to be effective. This future thinking is the basis of Porritt’s book, The World We Made (which I am in the process of reading). It provides a glimpse of what the future could look like and our journey to get there.”
