Startup isn’t a word
Yet

It’s mind-boggling to me that startup gets a red squiggly when you type it out.
There are a lot of startups (citation: TechCrunch/VentureBeat/NYTimes.com/@APlusK).
There is a very, very big industry around startups which includes
- amazing investors-cum-bloggers like Brad Feld, Mark Suster and Fred Wilson.
- coolest investment hub, Angel List.
- some badass startup lawyers.
- a great organization for young entrepreneurs.
- startup service providers that provide valuable services that no startup founder thought was necessary until they weren’t able to focus on their product.
- non-profit organizations focused on building startup communities, like UP.co, a combination of formerly poorly-spelled organizations like Startup America and Startup Weekend.
- amazing free courses and free insights from dope founders on building a startup and scaling a startup and making your startup more lean.
And yet (AND YET) Microsoft and Google insist on adding a red squiggly to every mention of startup.
So I started to post on Medium — a startup founded by one of the coolest startup guys in the world — and the squiggle follows me.
