Knowledge Messaging

We spent more than 4 years developing and improving an SMS answering engine that went on to answer 1 Billion queries (still counting) and was called the largest offline search engine in the world.

We believed in giving direct answers to Questions like “Fastest man on Earth” and “Square root of 169" in an SMS ready format and not giving links to answers. But one thing that we constantly failed to deliver was 100% answer accuracy. No matter how hard our R&D team worked on Natural Language Processing the Queries, it was impossible for the machines to understand queries like “Who was the captain of San Francisco Giants in 1995” (Google fails as well).

That is where the power of a Human mind comes in, it is very easy for any one of us to Google and find out for instance, “the captain of San Francisco Giants in 1995" after hopping through some results.
A psychologist in 2010, estimated that the brain’s memory storage capacity is 2.5 petabytes (a petabyte is 1 million gigabytes, or 1,024 terabytes). To put those 2.5 petabytes in perspective, the entire print collection of the U.S. Library of Congress is estimated at 10 terabytes.

All civilization in a sense exists only in the mind. Gunpowder, textile arts, machinery, laws, telephones are not themselves transmitted from man to man or from generation to generation, at least not permanently. It is the perception, the knowledge and understanding of them, their ideas in the Platonic sense, that are passed along. Everything social can have existence only through mentality.
ALFRED L. KROEBER, The Superorganic

Leveraging this fact, we are now working on our next product Quest, which is a people powered answering app where Human Mind will be the Algorithm behind our answers. It is a natural transformation for us from Machine powered search to Quest, because we will still be doing what we love the most — Answering people’s Queries, albeit a lot more accurately.

We are coming out with an Android and iPhone app to start with and would like you to get an early taste of Quest in our closed beta which we are doing early October. You can request for an invite here.

You can follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more constant updates.

HAPPY QUESTING :)
