How to deal with Tawkers

Talk is cheap.

But then, talk has probably always been cheap. Ever since humans began to talk over 100,000 years ago. Nothing new about that.

But two other developments are indeed relatively new.

Firstly, with the expansion of the internet and social media, it is possible for anyone to broadcast talk to millions of people.

Secondly, there is a new breed of “talker” that is actually paid to talk.

Obviously, not all talk is meaningless or harmful. Speech and its derivations like writing have been at the heart of human development. But increasingly the combination of Cheap, Broadcast and Pay means that we humans are drowned in a lot of talk which is indeed meaningless or even harmful.

To differentiate, I’m going to refer to the second type of talk as “tawk”. A portmanteau of talk and squawk.

So, what to do about Tawk?

The first step is to identify those whose talk is meaningless or harmful. I.e., the “tawkers.”
