Figured I’d switch up the sports article-type for a change. Let’s play a little overrated/underrated. Let’s go through a couple of topics and see where they fall. Some will call me a hater — others will call it keeping it real. So without further ado, I bring you Overrated/Underrated:

Soccer — OVERRATED

Never understood the infatuation for this sport. I can proudly say that I’m one of only a handful of kids who grew up without ever playing some form of organized soccer. I didn’t break until senior year intramurals in college. I’ll admit — it was a good time, but I think that’s because the refs missed a lot of the “defense” I was trying to play. However, my dislike of soccer lies mostly with those that are fascinated with watching the sport. It’s boring. No further explanation necessary.

Game of Zones — UNDERRATED

I say this because I only have a handful of friends who watch this amazing Bleacher Report series. If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones as well as the NBA, you couldn’t find a better way to spend three minutes at a time. Taking shots at James Harden’s defensive approach or Kobe’s refusal to pass the ball are just two of the series’ gems. If you haven’t already, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Jennifer Lawrence — OVERRATED
I’m not saying that her acting skills are overrated — she’s done an impressive job of covering many different roles. She just seems incredibly annoying to me and I don’t get the obsession with her. I could rattle off ten actresses who are way hotter…

AJ Green — UNDERRATED

Six Pro Bowls. Two time Second-Team All-Pro. He’s tied with Randy Moss as the only two players in NFL history to record 1,000 or more receiving yards in each of their first five seasons. You get the idea. Green is an absolute stud on the football field, yet it doesn’t always seem that fans recognize it. He often gets lost in the best wide receiver discussion with heavy competition coming from the likes of Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, and Odell Beckham Jr. Even with Andy Dalton at the helm, Green has rightfully earned a spot in the current top five WR debate.

Watching a sports game at a bar — OVERRATED

Annoying sports fan are amongst some of the worst people in the world. Whether it’s the know-it-all, the guy who yells after every play, or the faux-fan, there are just so many despicable types. For that reason, I’d much rather watch my beloved sports teams from the comfort of my own home where I’m not surrounded by loud idiots. Like several of these takes, I know I am in the minority on this one.

Subway — OVERRATED

Whenever someone asks me if I want to join them at Subway for a bite to eat, I instantly want to smack the shit out of them. As a fan of a good hoagie (Primo is the GOAT), it’s offensive to think that a Subway sandwich is even remotely tolerable. Their meat tastes fake, the bread is way too soft, and their awful shredded lettuce accounts for about 75% of the hoagie by itself. And as if that wasn’t enough, they’re also tied to that piece of shit Jared.

Bill Simmons — OVERRATED

Words can’t describe my disdain for this guy. To me, he is as annoying and useless as they get. I change the channel whenever he’s on the television. I’m aware that my judgment of him is a bit unwarranted because I’ve never met him, nor have I heard any horrible, malicious stories about him. Maybe I’m just jealous that I can’t be him — a talentless superfan who takes every chance he gets to brag about his sports teams to a national audience.

Agree/disagree? Feel free to share your thoughts! Stay tuned for Part 2!
