I’ve been journaling about my life since middle school. It started when Barnes and Noble started carrying Leuchterm 1917s, and I’ve been obsessed ever since.

I’ve used journals for just about everything. Church notes, problem-solving, meeting notes, figuring out my feelings, recording favorite sayings and tidbits of good conversations, and more.

When I open the box of notebooks stored in the depths of my bedroom closet, I open a door to my past and to my present. Through years of experimentation and practice, I’ve learned how to record my life and how not to.

I’ve found countless tips and tricks that have made it easier for me to process my feelings, record my life, and seek answers from my own brain.

Here are three ways I’ve found to make the habit a larger staple of your life:
