I once believed in everlasting love. I was a hopeless romantic, certain my relationship would last forever. Then, after 15 years of marriage, I got divorced.

After my divorce it took me years to build myself back up — to rebuild my confidence and become independent again. After much fear and struggle, I was ready to start dating again.

At first, it was scary. It was not just about meeting someone and liking each other — it was about trusting them enough to let them get close to me.

We all have our own way forward but, if you’ve landed here, here are some tips from my dating journey to help.

1) Take Good Care of Yourself First

First and foremost, prioritize you; take care of yourself. Being kind to yourself is not selfish — it’s the opposite. Taking time to care for your own mind, body, and spirit benefits you and everyone around you, including the new person you are dating.
