Sigh — not again. You don’t need another lecture on the merits of a morning routine.

You know routines can be helpful when you’re feeling low, settle your angst, spark your creative juices and send you out into the world wearing the golden glow of productivity.

But — for some reason — you can’t get it together. You wake up groggy. You hit the snooze button and roll over. When you finally stumble out of bed, the day comes at you like a mac truck.

Everything turns into a manic rush, which turns into a “damn, why have I done this to I myself — again?”

Research indicates that a sound morning routine ups the odds of having a good day. Just as rushing out the door maniacally with a screaming toddler in one hand and burnt toast in the other does not.

But in the brain fog of a winter’s morning, hauling out the gratitude journal, taking an online yoga class or braving a cold plunge can feel like a bridge (way) too far.
