All Successful People Rely on a Three-Word Philosophy

Steal it. Because it’s so obvious they won’t share it with you.

Life lessons come from everywhere — if you’re ready for them.

This one came to me from a young fashion designer whose range I was admiring one day. The clothes were off-the-charts creative.

But when I tried to offer praise she smiled and shrugged. “Making clothes isn’t hard. It’s just problem solving.”

She went on to explain. “Adding a pocket to a jacket is technical. You can’t just slap on the pocket you like most. It has to work with the shape of the jacket. It has to be functional. It’s a problem to solve.

“It’s like being a builder or a plumber, I guess. It’s how to make things work as well as possible and how to fix them when they don’t.”

I’d never put fashion and plumbing in the same basket, but it was an excellent point. Everything is about problem-solving.”

“Life is hard. Then you die. Then they throw dirt in your face. Then the worms eat you. Be grateful it happens in that order.” — David Gerrold
