Prone to anxiety?

Then, chances are, you pull the reins in tight. Organise your days with a lengthy to-do list that helps to keep your life on the rails.

Crossing items off that list gives you a sense of control. And the act of completion provides a mental boost, making you feel like a #Productive Person.

But what if I told you the to-do list was an illusion — that it could potentially make you feel worse about your life, not better?

Let me make my case.

When You Need to Feel in Control

Anxiety is part of life — let’s get that out of the way first.

Unless you are a person of religious order, I’m not sure it’s possible to navigate life without being shaken up by stressful or threatening situations.

But — obviously — some suffer more: those prone to over-thinking, catastrophising, ruminating, excessive worrying, panicking — middle-of-the-night fixations which ravage any chance of a good night’s sleep.

People who struggle with anxiety are often all too aware of its links with a need for control.
