Rachael Cline is an Assistant Groundskeeper at St. David’s Performance Training Center for Austin’s professional soccer club, Austin FC. Rachael grew up on a small farm and recently graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Turfgrass Science.

Through her role with Austin FC, Rachael was part of Forklift Danceworks’ video project focusing on the movement of the workers that support Austin FC and the Q2 Stadium. Partnering with E4Youth, a nonprofit that provides youth creative workforce development in Central Texas, and Gensler, the architecture firm that designed the stadium, Forklift spent two months in residency with events services, facilities, and grounds workers at the Q2 stadium. Together, they choreographed a video that shows the work that goes into getting the stadium match-ready.

Rachael recently shared more about her work and background with Forklift choreographer Francis Rodriguez. Francis began working with Forklift Danceworks began in the summer of 2018 as an Artistic Intern for Dove Springs Swims/Nadamos Dove Springs, and stepped into the role of choreographer for the Austin FC video project. You can listen to their conversation above.

On the Job: 20 Portraits from 20 Years highlights the work of twenty people who have collaborated and performed with Forklift Danceworks. Featuring new interviews between Forklift choreographers and our collaborators, the series shares the voices and experiences of people whose work sustains our communities.

New portraits will be released each month, so follow us on Facebook and Instagram to meet more Forklift performers throughout the year!

This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
