The Place That Took My Breath Away

Day 193/365: One of the most amazing places I’ve ever visited!

As a traveller, you get to see incredible places every time you step foot on a train or aeroplane. This is great, of course, but truthfully, it can get a tad repetitive or boring at times.

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather get bored on a 10-hour bus ride to Paris than at home doing boring tasks, but nevertheless, the bad part about travelling constantly is that things that used to leave you breathless are turning into great places to visit, but don't have that same"Jesus Christ, I am speechless!" effect anymore.

This was until I first saw Rheinfall, the largest waterfall in Europe. This natural wonder in Switzerland was spectacular to see up close. I was baffled by it, by the force of the water and by the scenery.

After a long 2-hours drive, we pulled up into a little city with a very hard name to say out loud and, after we parked and crossed a small park, we saw it in all of its glory.

It's amazing what humans have done over the years. We invented the car, the train, the plain, air conditioning. We got on the freaking Moon, for God's sake! We then invented the internet, a tool so powerful, it basically allows you to carry the whole world with you in your pocket. It's simply crazy.

But still, no inventions, no skyscrapers and no technological wonder are as powerful as a natural one. Rheinfall left me breathless, and as there's a platform that literally puts you in front of the waterfall, feeling the power of Mother Nature was Moment Zero of the whole Germany and Switzerland trip of 2018.

The waterfall is free to admire from the shore, but there's a 5 Euros lift fee if you want to go down from the little castle on top of the hill so that you can be 3 feet away from it. It's totally worth it to do the hike and then pay the fee.

In the end, you can take boat nr. 4 that will take you back on the shore for 3 Euros. The ride is smooth and it perfectly ends your trip.

Thank you for your time!
