What I’m Focusing On Next

Diving Into The Deep End

There are more than a thousand ways to learn new skills.

You can read a lot of books on the subject, go to a couple of seminars or pay for a personal tutor.

I’ve done all of those things in the past and they all worked in some way or form.

But there’s one way of learning that rules everything and it’s still undervalued by the audience at large.

It’s learning… by doing.

The Power Of Starting

It’s an extremely powerful way of learning.

Do you want to become a writer?

Well, you could read all the books in the world about writing, go to a lot of fancy seminars or even hire an expensive writing coach.

Or you could just start writing now.

It’s not the fastest or easiest way but definitely the best one in my opinion.

Do you know what all the greatest writers in history have in common?

They all started one day.

It’s how I learned how to trade as well.

I didn’t know anything about trading, I just dove in and started learning on the go.

A friend of mine is interested in trading but she’s a bit overwhelmed by the terminology.

My advice?

Put some money in the market and you’ll be amazed at how fast you learn the terminology when you have skin in the game.

Just start.

Going For The Real Thing

I used to read a lot of books.

And along the way I gathered some knowledge and even a bit of wisdom.

Reading improved my life.

But I still drastically reduced my reading time over the last couple of months.

I prefer doing now.

You can read a thousand books on skydiving but it’s nothing like the real thing.

Not that I ever did that but I suspect it’s going to happen.

Doing something and reading about it are definitely not the same things.

Reading only gets you to a certain point. After that, you’re on your own and the only thing left is doing it.

I’m focusing on the doing part now.

Getting My Hands Dirty

Because I need more balance in my life.

I realized the other day that I used to be too cerebral.

I loved staying indoor and reading all day. And for the longest time, that worked for me.

But I need to develop my other side too and get my hands dirty.

I need to go out there and experience things.

I always wanted to travel the world, meet new people and immerse myself in new cultures.

I never really did that in the past.

But when this writing challenge ends, that’s going to change.

And it’s going to be awesome.

Reading is still a valuable skill.

I’m not going to burn all my books from now on. That’s not what this post is about.

But there’s a time to read and there’s a time to do.

And for me, the time for doing has come.

The game teaches you the game.

Sometimes all you can do is jump in mid-game.

Luckily, it always works out in the end.
