What The Purpose Of My Life Is

According To A Former Mentor

‘The purpose of life is to share the wisdom you acquired with others.’

A former mentor once told this to me a couple of years ago.

I don’t think this line made a lot of impact at the time but I never forgot it either.

And these days, I’m revisiting the knowledge my mentors shared me with a renewed vigour.

I’m striking gold every time.

Take the line I opened with: I don’t know if you can get closer to the truth.

Acquiring wisdom on this journey and sharing it with others. That is what life is all about. I finally understand that now.

I used to be so clueless.

Soaring Above The Herd

This writing challenge changed that.

I’m getting comfortable with giving away my secrets.

Not that I have that many useful secrets. I’m still a beginner trying out a lot of things to see what sticks.

I have tried a lot and failed a lot and I plan to do that for the rest of my life.

However, two skills help me to soar above the herd.

One is writing and the other is trading.

Writing changed my life.

That’s why I‘m going to be a bit more hands-on as an editor in this publication when my writing challenge is over.

I would love to help other writers improve their skills. It would be amazing to impart some of my hard earned writing wisdom on them.

There are a lot of great writers on Medium and it would be an honour to help them soar above the herd too.

There will never be enough writers in this world.

The Most Inclusive Profession In The World

That’s not true about traders.

There could be too much of them. But we’re not there yet.

Not enough people own a trading mindset in my opinion and I want to change that.

I helped out some aspiring traders in the past but that was small scale though.

Eventually I would love to start a real trading academy and crank out dozens of talented traders every year.

Trading, like writing, is something everybody can do.

Your skin colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other labels don’t matter as a trader.

The market doesn’t care about them. She only cares about your edge.

Frankly, trading is probably one of the most inclusive ‘professions’ in the world.

And I would love to guide more people towards it.

The One Thing You Can Impact

Trading and writing have something in common.

It helps in both ‘fields’ to focus on the process.

If you focus on executing a good trade, or writing a good piece, that’s all you can do really.

Because that’s all you can really impact.

The market will decide how profitable the trade is and the readers will decide how popular the piece is.

A trader and a writer are both dependent on an entity that can’t be forced. The market or the readers are agnostic about your talent in the short term.

That’s why you have to focus on the process.

There’s a saying among traders:

One good trade.

Did you do the work and did you have the right intent? Did you did everything you’re supposed to do? That’s all that matters.

Focus on perfect executions.

That’s all you can do.

Sharing wisdom with others is fun.

It’s something I don’t do enough these days. I still try to silo my thinking process or my trades.

That’s stupid.

Because sharing wisdom is not a zero-sum game. If you share wisdom, it multiplies.

Is this the true purpose of my life? Who knows.

But it sure sounds nice.
