Don’t lose context on Slack

One of the big problems in the knowledge management space is that the apps don’t speak well with each other. We’ve taken a step toward solving that problem by syncing and threading comments and highlights about specific web pages across Kifi Libraries and Slack channels.

For example, the illustration below shows a message created via Kifi while being on a Web page about platforms. The message refers to an image in the article using Kifi’s magical “Look Here” highlighting feature, which you control by clicking the quote button in your Keeper.

The message — with its pointer to a specific image in the article — is available on the Web page kept in Kifi. Now, with the new feature, it’s available in Slack, too.

If the conversation was in a library that is synced with a Slack channel, then the content of the conversation will be synced into the correlated Slack channel. You may view the conversation on Slack and you may go to the Web page the discussion was on and carry on the conversation there. Don’t worry, we will make sure that anything you add to the conversation on Kifi will be synced back into Slack.

With this new feature, one of half-dozen we’re rolling out this month, everyone on your team can be in the loop, whether viewing on the page using the Kifi Extension, on the page in the Kifi library, or in the Slack channel.

We think these integrations are going to be more and more important as the knowledge management space evolves. Many teams use anywhere from two — four knowledge management apps, in a portfolio approach.

When knowledge management apps don’t sync well, it’s tough for everyone to stay in the loop; individual team members tend to migrate more to the apps they prefer, and the silos we’re working so hard to take down get built back up. The more integrated we are, the easier it is for our teams to take advantage of the full power of the kind of granular control we offer.
