In a Canadian filmmaker’s podcast aired live Tuesday, the former head of the now defunct Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, Luis Elizondo, seemed to confirm that extraterrestrials — or some unknown non-human intelligence or life form — are the source of what the English-speaking world calls UFOs.

His extraordinary remarks, which represented a striking shift in tone from what had been a lively, free-wheeling conversation with host Curt Jaimungal, were made toward the end of the podcast Theories of Everything. The program was live-streamed on YouTube at noon Eastern time, Tuesday, June 22. A polished, edited version is now available.

Elizondo is a former U.S. Army Counterintelligence Special Agent and former employee of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.
