A person waiting for a train at the train station

Should be any minute now. Is the train late?
Want to stay here all day, the B.E.D Station is great!

Peaceful and silent, it has a lovely view of the farm;
I see sheep jumping the fences, meaning no harm.

I’m not too fond of the people here, better avoid them fast;
If we talk, they dig up something embarrassing from my past.

I’ve never seen the train driver though. Mr. Sandman is his name;
I’ve never seen the train arriving either, what a shame.

But I know it’s the most soothing experience ever;
The R.E.M trains are the best! I wish I can stay on the ride forever.

It takes you anywhere you want to go;
It has an all-you-can-eat buffet too you know.

I’m sure I’ve seen all the passengers before,
Though I can’t remember where anymore.

The train is famous, across the world I’ll say;
Because I run into my favorite celebrities every day.

It’s a huge train and it’s easy to get lost.
Hope I don’t wander into the dark at any cost.

Freddy Krueger hides there and he’s not the friendliest kind.
With him, his scary-looking friends you’ll find.

Strange! I can’t find the train schedule anywhere.
Maybe I forgot my goodnight prayer.

How many sheep have jumped so far? I’ve lost count.
How long has it been? Where’s my train bound?

The train should be here any second now. Any second. Any seco…….Zzzzzzzz

Poet’s note

As someone who often finds himself awake at night counting sheep, I always liked the idea that sleep is like a train that is running late. I felt it was a magical train that takes you places, and helps you meet everyone you ever wished to meet. So, I dedicate this poem to our favorite pass time, sleep, and to all the people who can’t wait to get in on that train at the end of the day. Sleep tight!
