As the Board Chair for Onchain Custodian, it is a great pleasure to formally announce that Raymond Cheong, Co-founder of Onchain Custodian, has stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer. Raymond was employee number one of Onchain Custodian alongside me, and there was no more fitting person to take the company forward.

Raymond takes the reins as CEO from Alexandre Kech, who has decided to relocate to Europe for family reasons. Alexandre played a vital role in building Onchain Custodian alongside Raymond over the last three years, and we thank him for his efforts and friendship. We will be sad to see Alexandre go, but family is a vital part of our organisation, and Alex’s legacy will not be forgotten. We wish Alexandre and his family well.

In addition to being a Co-founder of Onchain Custodian, Raymond has served as Chief Strategy Officer and has been instrumental in overseeing finance, IT and partnerships since day one. Raymond has over 30 years of experience in financial services throughout Asia, having served his time at KPMG China, Ernst & Young China, IBM and Standard Chartered. His experience and vision for an institutional solution for digital asset management were what united us as we first put pen to paper to outline our shared vision for Onchain Custodian when we started this journey together in 2018. To date, we have serviced various clients, have made significant partnerships, and still continue to be a pioneer in educating institutions in the innovation available for a secure, robust and compliant digital asset custody.

Today, as we eagerly await our response from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), we are positioned to be one of the first digital asset custodians based in Singapore to be licensed. This is in no small part due to the work for Raymond, Alex and team over the last 18 months of the application process. MAS licensing is indicative of a maturing market and sets the environment that will enable us to capitalise on all of our efforts to date and thrive as the leading custodian of digital assets in Asia.

The Board and I are delighted to see Raymond in this role at a pivotal time for the industry. Onchain Custodian is perfectly positioned to capitalise on the inflow of institutional funds in the years ahead, thanks to the hard work and dedication our team has shown over the years.
