Eric here, One Degree’s CTO — a.k.a. Nerd in Residence!

I wanted to follow up on the email Rey sent last week about Silvia.

While Rey spends most of his time sharing our vision and bringing along people and organizations who can sustain our work, my primary responsibility is to actually build the platform that will do what we’re talking about: connecting families with the help and resources they need to improve their lives.

If you missed Rey’s email, but you’re ready to help, please make a donation now. $250, $100, or even $50 would go a long way in helping us close the budget shortfall we’re facing.

To others who aren’t yet sure if you’re ready to contribute, let me explain how your donation will make a direct impact on developing and promoting One Degree to people who need it. Here’s how we’ll be spending the money we raise:

Beyond connecting people to community resources, we also know that those who rely on them don’t typically have a voice in the kind or quality of service they receive. That’s why from the outset we’ll be introducing feedback and review tools that allow service providers to understand how effective their programs are to families.

Rey and I are firm believers in giving the social sector the information it needs to improve, and we also believe in accountability to the people we serve — for nonprofits, for government agencies, and for us. That’s why I wanted to be transparent with you about our expenses. Make no mistake: your contribution will go directly into connecting people with the help they need to thrive.

As Rey mentioned, we have a generous, anonymous donor that has agreed to match every contribution that is made before October 3rd. But we’re still about $8,000 away from being able to cover our $20,000 budget.

Can you give $30, $100, or even $250 now to cover some of these costs and help us launch the new One Degree?

I look forward to being in touch in the coming months about our relaunch. In the meantime, we have a lot of work to do — but first we need your help.

Many thanks,

Eric

P.S. Don’t forget to donate before October 3 to have your donation matched dollar for dollar!

P.P.S. If you missed Rey’s email last week, read Silvia’s story on our blog.
