#8 LinkedIn — Writing a Summary for You

Writing can be tough, especially if what you’re writing determines your future job prospects and is the first thing people in your professional network see when they visit your profile.

I’ve been there and my LinkedIn’s summary section is somewhat similar to a draft in my Medium (since 2015!)

As someone, just 5% away to reach the perfect profile, LinkedIn has tried hard to get me to write a summary. From a Progress Meter (with a peacocky gradient ) with a single bar remaining to reach completion, to what it did today.

This is an excellent implementation to get a lazy person started. A supportive gesture for the hardest task to do in your profile is encouragement for the user and it makes things look so personalised.

So, even if the summary is flawed, the idea is that you can make that quick edit to make it right instead of beginning from an empty slate. Also, the feature is called a “Suggestion” so they aren’t writing for you, but just suggesting. Implementing it or not, is upto you.

Great design, LinkedIn!
